SAYUJ MASURKAR
Coming home from a long day of school in 8th grade, senior Sayuj Masurkar was ecstatic to find that he was home alone. Knowing this, Masurkar snuck into his dad’s closet to steal the light brown zip-up jacket that he had been eyeing for weeks. Since then, that brown jacket has become a signature piece of clothing that compliments many of his outfits.

“I actually refrained from washing my jacket for the longest time when I first had it, because I liked how it looked,” Masurkar said. “And after I washed it, it got a little looser now, but it was really nice back then.”
Masurkar typically pairs his brown jacket with a V-neck T-shirt, baggy blue jeans, a chunky black belt and bulky white headphones. While Masurkar does not keep up with many fashion trends, he admits to adopting popular fashion trends inspired by an indie aesthetic, styling a white collared shirt under a sweater. Masurkar explains that his indie aesthetic gave him a sense of his personalized style.
“I really like when people incorporate a white collar shirt with a tie,” Masurkar said. “I think it elevates an outfit to make it look 10 times better than it would in a regular situation where you’re wearing everything else without that kind of setup.”
JULIAN KWON

Senior Julian Kwon adopts a comfortable yet graceful sense of style. Keeping his weight training class in mind, his main goal in dressing up for weight training is to make sure clothing does not affect his progress or hinder his ability to perform exercises. Kwon typically chooses items like a shirt or graphic tee with sweats and a neck chain, in which he feels confident and comfortable throughout the day.
“I mostly wear these sweatpants at school especially on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, because I have weight training these days,” Kwon said. “I’m not going to wear jeans at weight training, and usually it’s cold all the time that I wear them.”
Kwon’s favorite fashion trend is baggy clothing which is also influenced by his preference for simplicity. One of his favorite choices from this fashion trend is his blue hoodie. He recalls buying his blue hoodie with his mom from Woolenmaker, an online apparel store that specializes in streetwear. His love for baggy clothes influences his choices of wearing wide-leg sweatpants allowing him to feel confident while dressing in a simplistic way.
“Some of my favorite trends I’ve seen at school were street wear like baggy jeans, baggy shirts,” Kwon said. “That’s really mostly what I’ve seen at school that I think is my favorite.”
LEONARDO DHAMIJA
Walking down an archery trail, a nature based walking course consisting of different archery targets scattered throughout the path, senior Leonardo Dhamija dons a fish hat, layered shirts and green khaki shorts. Dhamija prefers to wear eye-catching clothing, since it encourages conversation with those around him.

“People say that they dress for themselves sometimes, but I do like to stand out with my hats,” Dhamija said. “There have been a few times that people say my hats look like characters from TV shows. I think it’s really cool that people can make conversation about it. I like to show off my hats because they’re fun and I also feel like this school is a very boring place and no one is whimsy at all. I want to encourage other people to wear hats too. People should wear silly hats and dye their hair to be a little bit colorful.”
During freshman year, Dhamija would pull his pants all the way up to his torso to stand out, adding a humorous aspect to his outfit to show his personality. His style began evolving after Dhamjia met his boyfriend, who helped him find outfits that he feels confident and comfortable in. One of his boyfriend’s choices that helped improve his style was his love for hats, and layering clothes and accessories, such as bracelets, waist chains and belts.
“I have this camo long sleeve shirt that I wear under a lot of my shirts,” Dhamija said. “It’s very cozy, very comfy, and it fits me very well. So I like it a lot. Usually I like putting green shirts or shirts that have green colors on them over it. Lately, I’ve found that it goes well with brown too.”
