In MV Debate, competitors must memorize many technical terms to succeed in their respective branches of debate. MV Debate offers three predominant types of debate: Lincoln-Douglas, which focuses on moral policies; Public Forum, which concentrates debate on current event issues and Parliamentary, which involves a “government” team and an “opposition” team.
Sophomore Christina Lau (Public Forum Captain), senior Julianna Liu (Parliamentary Captain) and sophomore Aditi Gnanasekar (Lincoln-Douglas Captain) define common words used in the different branches of debate.
