On Dec. 8, FBLA added Adobe Systems to the long list of companies that they have toured. FBLA’s Public Relations officer and Director of Partnership with Businesses junior Keshav Santhanam organized the hour-long after-school tour.

The goal of the tours is to bring members to large companies and expose them to the workplace environment. This is the business club’s third tour of the year — the first was the annual tour at EA Games on Sept. 8 and the second was at Nvidia on Nov. 10, a company well known for its graphics processors.

The Adobe tour focused on the environmental initiative of the company and was led by the company’s global sustainability officer, Meera Ramanathan.

“[We learned about] how they’re saving energy and how the building was designed,” Santhanam said. “[They noted things such as] how in their cafeteria, they [removed the] trash bins.”

Vice President of Competition junior Barak Gila visited the company hoping to learn more about how it functioned and what corporate headquarters looked like.

“We learned a lot about their green initiative but it was also really interesting to see what it was like [at the company],” Gila said. “One thing that was interesting was that every single employee has their own office — their own room that [they] can close the door to.”

Only 12 members attended the tour, a drop from the usual attendance of around 20 students which Santhanam credits to upcoming finals. The next FBLA tour will be at Dropbox in San Francisco in January.
