Finals around the corner, Christmas around the bend. As the stress comes crashing down, forget the mistletoe and make some time for yourself
Lately, I haven’t had time to pay attention to Martians and their idiosyncrasies — or Venusians for that matter. The stressed out, strung-out holiday state is now in full swing, and all the precious few minutes at the end of each day go toward planning for the coming morning.
Only one thought gets me through these dark, gray days: two more weeks. Two more weeks until 2 PM mornings. Two more weeks until all the holiday chick flicks I’ve ever wanted to see. Just two weeks.
I realize the holiday season is dedicated to warmth and giving, and as of 2003 with the advent of “Love Actually”, to love. But frankly, who has time to give and to love with finals looming ahead?
Not I.
To all the wired Martians and Venusians running on caffeine and working till you drop, I feel you — and I’m in the same boat.
So this holiday season, once the studying is done, the college applications submitted, and the presents bought, I encourage all of you to spend some time giving, warming, and loving the most important person in your life: yourself.
Whether it’s a best of Brad Pitt marathon or a thorough examination of Leighton Meester’s saucy spread in this month’s GQ, take some time to tend to yourself.
‘Tis the season after all.
