The class of 2025 held the AP Study Session on Wednesday, April 24, in the student union from 3:05 to 5 p.m. In addition to snacks and drinks, event organizers provided food from Panda Express and pizza to students when their initial plan of Chipotle fell through.

Physics teachers Michael Lordan and Jim Birdsong, along with Biology teacher Julie Choi and AP Environmental Science teacher Kenneth Gan, were present and helped students prepare for the AP exams. Lordan noticed that the students mostly talked among themselves, and many did not go to teachers for help. In fact, he believes that was one of the strengths of the session, since students may be more comfortable asking questions to their friends. He also thinks the community that the students are able to build through this event will have a longer-lasting impact than the preparation for AP exams.

“I think in general, having a lot of different resources of people that you can go get help from is positive,” Lordan said. “I feel like if the teachers weren’t here, the session would be essentially just as productive as it was with the teachers.”
