FThe Fremont Union High School District Board of Trustees met on March 5 at MVHS. Prior to the open session held in the MVHS library, principal Ben Clausnitzer cut the ribbon at the Grand Opening of the MVHS Gym Lobby. The opening included a performance by the marching band and refreshments and desserts for attendees.

After a closed session, the Board of Trustees held the flag salute and open session which anyone could attend. The meeting started with a performance from MVHS Variations, followed by a welcome from Clausnitzer and a presentation from three MVHS ASB members, junior Dan Sachs and seniors Pramodh Srihari and Derek Zheng. The presentation outlined student activity at MVHS, including school spirit activities and student achievements, like rallies and world-record breakers.

The following people were recognized for their services to the school:

Student Group and Coach: Cross Country Girls Team and head coach Kirk Flatow

Staff Group/PLC Recognition: Literature/Writing PLC, team lead Vanessa Otto

Classified Employee-of-the-Year: Tricia Palomino, assistant principal’s secretary

Certificated Employee-of-the-year: Kristin McDaniel, special education teacher

Retirees: Skip Mueller, math teacher; Jorge Couto, custodian

Poster students: Derek Zheng and Elika Hashemi
