On May 19, the soft hum of music is drowned out by the excited chatter of customers inside Cupertino’s BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse. Tucked in the corner of the side room, MVHS Leo Club students cluster around long tables, talking about upcoming finals between bites of pasta and pizza. Eventually, Projects Manager and sophomore Ted Chai stands up, causing a hush to fall across the room and making the soft music audible once more. Chai and his fellow officers then proceed to hand out official volunteer hours certificates to all of the members present at the banquet.
