As promised, the ABC TV show, “How to Get away with Murder” revealed Sam Keating’s (Tom Verica) murderer, but there was no lack of surprise in its season finale. The show, which returns on January 29, 2015, left viewers shocked, creating more questions than answers.
The series begins with the murder of Lila Stangard (Megan West), a student of Sam who is a psychology professor at the University. At first all fingers point at Stangard’s friend Rebecca Sutter (Katie Findlay), how ever by using the memories of the students, the show narrows down the suspects as well as how and why Sam was killed.
Sam’s extramarital affairs with Lila was revealed earlier in the series, leaving his wife, as well as law professor Annalise Keating (Viola Davis), with no other choice than to throw her husband out.
Thursday’s finale showed no lack of Annalise’s power, beginning with an argument between Sam and Annalise after the extent of Sam’s affair is revealed. With Annalise storming out of the house, Sam is left to drinking for comfort.
Michaela Pratt (Aja Naomi King) a student of Annalise, arrives at the Keating house, now with the semester trophy, a trophy students can win each semester as a get out of jail free card for any assignment, in the hopes of speaking with Annalise, in order to allow her to use the trophy to not have to take the final exam. At this point we’re thinking Sam’s gonna take his shame and his bags and leave: but no. Rebecca storms in with the goal of proving Sam’s murder of Lila. With Sam enraged, Michaela calls Wes (Alfred Enoch), Connor (Jack Falahee) and Laurel (Karla Souza), her classmates from her law class at the University.
After arriving at the house, Wes calms Sam down, but not enough to prevent Sam from attacking Rebecca, who has the evidence needed against Sam. As Michaela and Laurel run out of the room with the evidence, Sam attacks Michaela, who reacts by throwing Sam off the second floor.
At this point, Sam, who has fallen from the second story, is dead. Right? Wrong.
As Annalise’s students decide what to do with the body, Sam attacks Rebecca. In order to prevent Sam’s murder of another student, one of the classmates resorts to using the trophy, striking Sam in the end and killing him. Who the murderer is, is for you to find out.
