Driver loses control of Acura and drives into Cupertino home
At 4 p.m. on Nov. 4, Chinese teacher I-Chu Chang received a call informing her that a car had crashed into her house. Chang initially thought it was a prank call, but upon arriving at her house, she encountered five firetrucks, three police cars and two ambulances.
Just a half-hour earlier, at around 3:30 p.m., an Acura crashed into the front of Chang’s house, creating a gaping hole in her garage and living room. The driver lost control of the car after another car bumped her from behind and swerved twice before making contact with Chang’s house. Though no one was hurt during the accident, the experience terrified Chang and her family.
"At first I was too shocked to cry, but I was trembling the entire time," Chang said. "After several days, I calmed down and when I think about it, I feel a little traumatized."
A construction company is cleaning up the debris and repairing the damages, which they anticipate will be done by Nov. 24. The costs of the repairs are being covered by the driver’s insurance and Chang is thankful that no one was in the house at the time of the accident.
