Principal Ben Clausnitzer announced in a staff email on Wednesday, Feb. 9, that Rogelio Calderon will be the new College and Career Advisor for MVHS. The former advisor, Mary Depew, moved after first semester to the Saint Paul-Minneapolis area to be closer to family, leaving a midyear vacancy.

Coming from East Side Union High School District as a former counseling technician and social science teacher, Calderon has a diverse background and a range of experience. He’s taught AP U.S. History, U.S. History and World History and has supported students at UC Santa Cruz with career planning and time management.

Clausnitzer says he welcomes Calderon into the “Matador family” with open arms and warm regards.

I also know [that] Rogelio is looking forward to being a resource for students and supporting our students in their next steps beyond high school,” Clausnitzer said in an email. “Rogelio also looks forward to making our College and Career Center a welcoming and safe place for our students to be during times like brunch and lunch.”
