Sophomore Vishruth Iyer
EE: Could you describe what you have for lunch today?
Vishruth Iyer: It’s pasta, with cheese and olives. It’s Italian.
EE: Do you normally eat Italian food?
VI: No. I normally never eat this type of food … [I usually eat] rice and yogurt … It is [Indian food].
EE: What is Indian food like?
VI: It’s either rice-based or bread-based.
EE: Since when have you been eating Indian food?
VI: In kindergarten, I ate ravioli and then I threw up. After that, I’ve been eating rice-based [Indian] dishes … the majority of the time.
EE: Who makes your food?
VI: My mother.
EE: How come you decided to bring Italian food today?
VI: It’s leftovers from dinner, the previous day.
EE: Is Indian food special to you?
VI: Not really, because since I’ve been eating it for so long, it’s kind of normal. I tend to not like [it] as much as foreign food.
EE: Would you ever replace Indian food with foreign food? Would you like it?
VI: For a little while, and then after that, it would become the new normal, and I would probably like different food more.
