On Feb. 11 and 12, the Cupertino Library will be hosting a used book sale in the Cupertino Community Hall. The sale is hosted by The Friends, a volunteer group that has supported the Cupertino library for 35 years. The 8,000 books that will be on sale are mostly donations from library patrons, with some discards from the library itself.
“We’re very popular with the community, and especially high schoolers,” public relations manager of The Friends Colin Jung said.
Nonselect books such as fiction and nonfiction paperbacks will be sold at prices from $0.50 to $1. Books of special interest and of higher quality, such as local and Californian history books, tabletop books, children’s pop-up books and art books will be sold for $2 to $20. AP, SAT, GRE and other test preparation books will be sold for $1 each.
All books will be individually priced on Feb. 11. On Feb. 12, customers will be able to buy a $3 book bag to fill with nonselect books. Unsold books will be returned to the library.
Profits from the sale will help fund the library and its programs and features, such as the Children’s Summer Reading Club, high school Study Nights, the Teen Room and the self-checkout machines. The Friends also funds an ongoing bestseller book sale in the library lobby.
The book sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 11, and 12 to 3 p.m. on Feb.12 at Cupertino Community Hall.
