Our whines about construction are even louder than the construction itself.Construction is underway at MVHS and students have been complaining about the noise, obstructions and general difficulties caused by the construction. But we shouldn’t moan about it too much — after all, we signed ourselves up for this. The three major construction work projects are repairs of the roofs, construction of the new B building bathrooms, and the installment of a new football field. Two thirds of those surveyed responded that the construction had obstructed them in some way, shape, or form. Complaints about the overall construction vary from having to walk further to class or home, inability to graduate on the MVHS bleachers, and the most popular complaint: noise disruptions during class.
But keep in mind: your fellow students, staff and parents fought for these developments. Lynbrook and Monta Vista Union actually were suing against this decision to do this construction. But now that MVHS has filed an Environmental Impact review, we may now finally go on with the construction.
Essentially, after much battle and disappointments, leadership students supposedly representing the entire school body have finally won this long drawn-out war and are excited for everyone to finally reap the benefits of this construction. Now that the battle’s over, we just have to hold on a bit longer until the benefits start rolling in to the school.
So you can gripe, complain, and scream all you want about construction, but there is no one to blame except for yourself.
