This week, students came back from break to a school with new campus recycling bins and trash cans. Twenty-one tan recycling bins and brown trash bins were placed around the Rally Court and the Academic Quad.

Club Commission and administration teamed up to establish a recycling program for MVHS while clubs, such as California Scholarship Federation and Martial Arts club, have agreed to take out the recycling bins about twice every week, receiving MRS Gold money in return.

“Our recycling program was non-existent [before the new bins were installed],”Club Commissioner senior Brandon Tran said. “We wanted to make [MVHS] a cleaner and greener school.”

Participating clubs feel that this program will have a positive impact on the school and the students.

“I think it is beneficial to [CSF] because we would have more volunteer activities and [it will make] our members more active in the community,” CSF president senior Srilakshmi Ramesh said. “We think it’s important to give our members opportunities that have a direct impact to our community and school.”
