Matadors lost 3-0 against the Lancers
On Sept. 15, the varsity girls field hockey lost to the St. Francis Lancers 3-0. The Lancers are one of the top teams in the A league, which is one league above the Matadors.
“[The Lancers] had really fast passes and we had trouble defending against them,” captain senior Crissy Stuart said. Although the Matadors fought to hold back the Lancer’s constant attacks, they were down 2-0 by half time. However, the Matadors were quick to learn from mistakes made during the first half.
"We started to have better defense and we were doing better [the second half] than the first half of the game,” captain senior Suzanne Stern said.
Despite the Matador’s improvement during the second half, the Lancers continued to dominate scoring another goal during the second half, ending the game 3-0.
"Even though we lost, we did really good considering that [the other team] is a league above us,” senior Kaede Hamilton said. “This game definitely proved that we can do well in leagues.”
