On Friday, Feb. 27, there will be more than just ringleaders, clowns, lions, and tigers lining up outside of the gym, waiting to enter the circus-themed Sadies Hawkins dance.  Among the crowd of these attendees will also be eight special senior boys who have been nominated for Sadies King.

Erik Romelfanger, Chris Cantwell, Rishav Ranjan, Jay Voigt, Jonathan Chow, Ameya Ganpule, Chad Estes, and Danny Lorenz each received two purple balloons, a box of Barnum's Circus Animal Crackers, and a yellow ticket stating that they have been nominated for Sadies Court.

While the entire Spirit Squad is in charge of organizing Sadies this year, the cheer team selected the eight boys for Sadies Court. Nominations were based on how school spirited the boys are and how often they attend sports games and rallies.

"Pretty much we know them really well because they have done a lot for MV," senior cheerleader Breanna Adams said as she explained the nomination process.

Upon receiving his balloons, golden ticket, and animal crackers, Ganpule was very happy and surprised. "I didn't even know that there was a Sadies Court and that I got in,"  he said. "It was great because I got a box of animal crackers, too."

On the night of Sadies, there will be shoeboxes set up in the gym and each person who comes in will get a stamp ticket, which will be used as a ballot.

After putting their ballots in the shoebox, members of the cheer team will then count the tickets and announce Sadies King by the end of the dance.
