Leadership held its annual farewell rally in the gym on Friday, May 23, marking the last rally for the class of 2025. The theme was class colors, with each grade wearing a different color: freshmen in lavender, sophomores in white, juniors in yellow and seniors in purple.
The rally schedule included performances from the Dance Team, Andaaz, Bhangra and Korean Culture and Dance Club (KCDC), and competitive rally games such as pizza knockout, spinning poly and dress to impress. Senior Vice President Jooha Kim says the preparation for the rally took about two months, with each part of leadership having a specific role.
“In the last month leading up to the rally, the class officers majorly focused on getting the rally posters done, buying decorations and just getting the classes hyped for the event,” Kim said. “In terms of ASB, we were in charge of writing the script, making sure there are still some funny moments that people can laugh and relate to. Spirit commission got all the games ready and our playlist ready and just brought the overall hype towards it which we really built up with our dress-up days that we had the week of today’s rally.”
Kim says that the rally’s goal was to make it both exciting and meaningful, especially for the departing seniors. She emphasizes how the nostalgia of past rallies helps increase excitement and anticipation for this specific event.
“I feel everyone being caught up in nostalgia was good,” Kim said. “That helped with everyone to be really excited for it, which is a major part of a rally. It’s really just crowd participation and just getting everyone on the same wavelength, and everyone getting hyped for it.”
For Kim, who has been in Leadership all four years, the farewell rally represents not just her last rally, but a full-circle moment. She says that she has been happy with the farewell rally this year and views it as a great way for the class of 2025 to experience their last high school moments.
“This is the first year that I’m in charge of doing the rallies, and seeing all four classes come together is a really bittersweet moment,” Kim said. “With the four years working with the class of 2025, I feel that I’ve just gotten to know a lot of people. Seeing how the different gamers work at what they’re good at and seeing people who sing well during the sing-along is a really good way to wrap up everything that has happened in the past four years. I couldn’t have wished for a better way to end our senior year.”
