The Class of 2028 showcased its first-ever Homecoming performance, a “Teletubbies”-themed skit, on Wednesday, Oct. 2. The story followed the four main Teletubbies — Dipsy, Tinky Winky, Po and Laa-Laa — as they traveled between dimensions to stop the villainous vacuum Noo-Noo from stealing a book of knowledge. The freshman skit, supplemented with songs like “HOT TO GO!” by Chappell Roan and “Yeah!” by Usher, included a girls, boys and co-ed dance.
In preparation for the skit, Freshman Sean To, playing Student 2, found it difficult to balance practices with his other commitments. His acting role involved interacting with the Teletubbies once they teleported into MVHS and guiding them.
“There were some challenges because of scheduling,” To said. “I had clubs and club meetings, especially during lunch. I couldn’t make it to some of the practices, especially practices on the weekends, and I had tournaments.”
Freshman Pranathi Rao, who participated in the girls and co-ed dance, sees the practices as one of her favorite parts, as they gave her chances to interact with different people and make meaningful memories. Rao initially had some hesitation about the skit’s unique theme but believes that all the participants performed well and says she doesn’t have any regrets.
“I would totally participate in the skit again,” Rao said. “Preparing for the dance was really fun, and I met so many new people. The people who were teaching the dance were really patient with us, especially when we were struggling.”
Freshman Abigail Ran, who played the main villain Noo-Noo, acknowledges that the skit had room for improvement, especially in acting skills and the co-ed dance. Despite this, she agrees with Rao and is proud of her performance.
“It was kind of messy the day we performed it because not everyone knew when they were supposed to go on, where they should be and had their script fully memorized,” Ran said. “We were just mouthing whatever and praying for the best that it looked somewhat correct — but with the time that we did have, I think it did turn out pretty nice.”
