MVHS’ annual Club Information Days were held on Thursday, Sept. 19 and Friday, Sept. 20 during lunch in the Rally Court. A variety of clubs set up around rows of tables to pitch their clubs to prospective members using trifolds and other self-made promotional materials.
Tanisha Sood, junior and member of both MV Neuroscience and Research Club, manned MV Neuroscience’s board on day two of Club Information Day. She says the event was a great opportunity to connect with new people, and that she thinks the event helped clubs get a lot of interest and generate more excitement for the upcoming year.
“I really enjoyed talking to people and sharing my perspective on this club,” Sood said. “You’re able to share what you’re passionate about with multiple people and really get yourselves out there at this event, and can really connect with people who may have never realized that these clubs existed before.”
According to Sood, the participating clubs being spread out across two days, Thursday and Friday, is an improvement from the previous year, where it was on a single day and too crowded. Sood says she also saw clubs putting in more effort, with MV Neuroscience, along with many of the other clubs, meeting days in advance to create new information boards or updating existing ones.
“I think this year everyone’s really stepped it up and created new ideas,” Sood said. “Especially in the clubs that I’m in, for example MV Neuroscience and Research Club have both added new ideas and I think that’s amazing.”
While Sood says that communication to clubs about the dates and setup for Club Information Day could’ve been better, she says the event was overall a success. Sood says that she achieved the outreach goals she had for her clubs, at the same time as being able to engage positively with other students.
