A new year in the drama program means fresh sets, roles and a new production to perform and direct. This year’s fall production is called “The Marriage” by Nikolai Gogol, a Russian play published in 1842. Drama and English teacher Hannah Gould translated the original play to English and has made adjustments to the lines along the way during rehearsals.

With new characters featuring Russian names, actors and actresses have had to practice their annunciation as well as singing and pacing. The play will be performed on Nov. 8, 9, 15 and 16 in the black box theater.

Until then, drama students have been busy rehearsing Monday through Friday after school, and shared some of their favorite memories, explained their roles and expanded upon their passion for drama.
