As some seniors started the game, MVHS pushed their offense downfield in the first half. After a skillful combination in the midfield, junior Itay Rabinovich took control of the ball, swiftly passing to junior Dylan Randazzo on his right, who then made a cross behind a CHS defender, close to the goal but far away enough from the goalie. Junior Sean Crofut gained possession of the ball, pushing it into the CHS net with a stretch of his left foot.

With the team’s energy level at peak, the first half came to an end at the score of 1-0. But with a victory so close in sight, mixed with the excitement of senior night, MVHS failed to deliver the same level of finesse in the second half. MVHS’ defense faltered, as CHS scored two goals.

Senior Arjun Mathur started playing soccer in eighth grade — much later than some others on the team. But during his last home game with MVHS, Mathur reflects on the support he’s received from players on the team that has made a big difference for him.

“It was kind of hard to match up with everyone who’s been playing their whole lives, but thanks to people … I’ve been training with for a long time, I got good enough to be playing on this team now,” Mathur said. “I’m grateful for that.”
