On Jan. 19, the MVHS basketball teams faced off against Milpitas High School in a quad game, the girls varsity game. Last year, MHS won the matchup at MVHS, and so the Matadors were eager to bounce back with a win. MVHS started off well against a much taller MHS team. Even though they were smaller in height, MVHS was able to pass around the ball and score easy points. MHS missed a lot of shots in the first half but were able to gain the lead in the second taking the game away from MVHS. The game ended with an MVHS loss 51-60.
Senior Jessie Pao looks to pass to teammate in the perimeter. MVHS used their passing skills to their advantage to find gaps in MHS defense.
Sophomore Ashley Liu looks for the open teammate, trying to preserve the lead. MVHS had the lead in the first half but ended up losing the game.
