At the beginning of the Matadors’ game against James Lick HS on Sept. 15, the team failed to put points on the board against the JLHS defense. But after a scoreless first quarter from both sides, MVHS soon found their rhythm and ended up dominating JLHS 40-20, with four touchdowns from quarterback junior Cheto Vasquez and two from running back junior Jonah Ji.
“We were preparing all week, and we were excited to just get out there and put up a good fight,” Vazquez said. “We had a good practice and we knew we had to score and score fast.”
