When MVHS took to the field on Feb. 9, they were going into their game against Gunn HS shorthanded. Juniors Emma Lam and Nina Biondi, who started at the forward position for the majority of this season, were sitting out with injuries, while the rest of their team hoped to secure a win.
Despite losing the first half, MVHS had not given up by the time the second half rolled around. Though when GHS closed in defensively, freshman Jamie Chan was able to score off of a corner kick, preventing the GHS shutout. Despite GHS maintaining their 4-1 lead by the time the final whistle sounded, MVHS had not given up without a fight. No matter how strong their rival was, MVHS never backed down with a drive to prove that they were still contenders this late in the season.
