On a rainy Jan. 27, the girls basketball team took to the court against Los Altos HS. Early on, MVHS looked poised to win: over the first two quarters, they built a lead of over 15 points. Nothing done by LAHS could deter them. But after halftime, they began to lose energy, and the team settled into a third quarter slump that they couldn’t seem to shake. Early three point shots by senior Rhea Rangarajan were equalized by an onslaught of three pointers by Los Altos HS in the third and fourth quarters, until LAHS cut the lead down to 1. Foul trouble caused MVHS to alter their late game lineup, but last minute free throw heroics helped MVHS hang on for the win 46-43.
