Field hockey:
Junior Devin Pereira defends an attempt by Branham HS in MVHS’ second home game of the season. MVHS shut out BHS 6-0 in its second home game of the season, scoring easily throughout both halves of the game. Going off their effort to enforce team unity, the defense and offense worked together to prevent a BHS win.
Football:
In MVHS’ first home game of the season, senior Pranad Reddy is sacked for a loss by the Westmont HS defense. MVHS went into the game with a brand new playbook and was focused on playing a pass heavy game. Regardless of the change, the game ended 35-6 with an MVHS loss.
Cross country:
Junior Justin Lin participates in a run organized by the MVHS cross country team. Even though the first SCVAL league meet was yesterday, MVHS’ cross country team took to the Steven’s Canyon Trail for its annual Watermelon Time Trial run on Aug. 31. The race helps the coaches figure out each team member’s standings, and as tradition they gather for watermelon at the finish line.
Girls water polo:
Senior Shannon Reid makes a break for the goal in an 11-4 victory for girls water polo against The Harker School. The team went into the game confident, and although the first half started off slowly with only three goals, MVHS picked up the scoring drive in the second half. After an abrupt shift in coaching staff, MVHS were still able to triumph over THS.
