“We were thinking, (because) most of us are immigrants here, or at least our parents are,everyone has a very cool immigration story,” said co- editor in chief senior Gloria Zhao
Verdadera members spread the word to their audience through facebook profile pictures and promotional posts. In addition, Verdadera asked for the help of principal April Scott in promoting the number of submissions through a school loop email.
We [Verdadera] are still seen as students when it comes to asking for parent [submission],” senior Gayathri Kalla, “We get decent responses, but when we get Mrs Scott to send out emails to the parents [through school loop], they’re a little more intrigued and look into it. We’ve gotten a lot more parent responses because of that.”
Verdadera hopes that students will be able to get a better understanding of their family through their upcoming issue and hope to present the true stories of students to Monta Vista.
