Despite the light drizzle on Wednesday morning, leadership students stood outside the student center, anxiously awaiting the arrival of coats for their One Warm Coat drive.
“Mr. White mentioned [the organization] last week and said it was a great opportunity to give back to the community, especially with El Nino coming up this year.” said leadership student Senior Brittany Tam. “It’s really great that we live in such as prosperous area that we can donate coats for people who need.”
Donations were slow in the beginning, Mr. White had to make an announcement reminding students about the coat drive
“We haven’t gotten much from the students, but Mr White.. and Mrs.Scott brought some, and I think some staff are going to bring [coats] in as well.” said Chu, “We’re hoping for as many coats as we can get.
Leadership showed appreciation to any students who did give coats by giving them a free cup of hot chocolate, and a sticker bearing the One Warm Coat logo on it. Regardless of the number of coats donated, Leadership was happy to give what they could back to their community and contribute to help those in need.
