The Matadors hosted the Mountain View HS Spartans for their league home opener on Jan. 13. Monta Vista pulled ahead in the first half, but the Spartans gained momentum in the third to create a deadlock. The Matadors pulled away in the final minutes to win the game 44-39, advancing their undefeated league record to 2-0.
The Matadors will face Lynbrook HS in a quad game on Jan. 15.
