It’s the time of the year again when La Pluma officers select a new round of talented staff members. Four newly accepted students share their thoughts on writing and La Pluma.
EE: Why did you apply to be a staff member for La Pluma?
“Next year I want to be in El Estoque, so I want some prior experience in being in a magazine. La Pluma is a way to experience that.”
EE: Why do you enjoy writing?
“It is a way to express my feelings without actually taking action.”
EE: What are the skills you think you will acquire in the future from La Pluma?
“I applied as staff artist. I want to be able to work on digital graphic design and online content.”
EE: Why did you apply to be a staff member for La Pluma?
“I thought the club would be really fun because I know some people in the club and it’s all about writing. I want to learn more and read other people’s writing to further improve mine.”
EE: Why do you enjoy writing?
“Storytelling is my favorite thing.”
EE: What are the skills you think you will acquire in the future from La Pluma?
“I want to be more creative. I can learn more about collaboration because I’ve only done individual writing in my literature classes.”
EE: Why did you apply to be a staff member for La Pluma?
“I’ve never seen my writing published before and I want other people to see my writing. I also love writing and I just want more time writing.”
EE: Why do you enjoy writing?
“I like writing because it is a filter for my mouth, so I don’t just say what I’m thinking – I get to edit it. It lets me express my thoughts in a way that people understand.”
EE: What are the skills you think you will acquire in the future from La Pluma?
“Definitely talking to people because we have to interview a lot of people, so I will get to experience meeting new people.”
EE: Why did you apply to be a staff member for La Pluma?
“I’ve always loved creative writing and I think La Pluma is a really good outlet to explore what I can do with writing. It allows for boundaries to be set so I can push myself. It is also collaborative so I can play off other people’s ideas. Everyone is immensely talented so I really want to work with them.”
EE: Why do you enjoy writing?
“Writing is just another art medium for me. It is the only way I can express myself – the way I choose to look at things. Words are the way I use to paint my expressions and dreams and visions.”
EE: What are the skills you think you will acquire in the future from La Pluma?
“I want to meet really cool writers, which I think I will because I’ve seen some of the previous works and they were amazing. Everyone is really nice. I just want to learn to be a better writer and someone who can work with other people.”
