UPDATE (4/22 1:46 p.m.): Principal April Scott clarified that the search party is not a school organized event. The track and wrestling coaches have gathered their players to help search and rescue at 3:30 p.m. after school today. Since athletes are required to submit medical forms before joining their teams, they are not a liability for the school.
“I have told the coaches that not any other students [besides the ones on the team] can go with them,” Scott said.

Junior Connor Sullivan was officially reported missing at 3:25 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21. He was last seen at MVHS on Monday, April 20. According to the Santa Clara Sheriff’s office, administration reported Sullivan’s absence this morning and that his family last saw him at 7 a.m. on Monday before he left for school.
Sullivan, a half-Caucasian, half-Asian male, is approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs approximately 150 pounds and was last seen wearing all black.
Students, mostly members of the wrestling team, began searching today after school, checking the railroads, Prospect Road and the McClellan Groundwater Recharge Pond area. The group split up and is searching as far as Rancho San Antonio, with sources saying that students are searching Linda Vista Park, Foothill Park and Voss Ave. as well.
The Cupertino Community Emergency Response Team has gathered, but was unable to comment.
Senior Liwen Xu, a teacher’s assistant in Sullivan’s sixth period Mythology and Folklore class, said that Sullivan was not present during class on Monday and Tuesday, but was assumed to be ill both days. Xu was first notified of Sullivan’s disappearance when a student announced Sullivan’s name and grade in class after a teacher alluded to the situation but held back details.
Sullivan was reported to have attended his first period Physiology class on Monday, but disappeared during his free second period. In addition to missing all of his subsequent classes, Sullivan, who is on the track and field team, missed Monday and Tuesday’s practices.
The Mercury News said that Sullivan, who was also a member of the cross country team, enjoys running in the area of the Fremont Older Open Space Preserve.
Anyone with information on Sullivan’s disappearance should call the Sheriff’s Department at 408-299-3233 or contact their local law enforcement immediately by dialing 911.
