CCS was one goal away from the boys soccer team last year. Taking the place of previous Head Coach and current Assistant Coach Pooya Hajjarian, Head Coach Patrick Lowney hopes to drive the boys to even more success this season. Lowney is already impressed with the boys since Hajjarian has primed the team for victory for the past three years. In the few weeks the boys have spent with Lowney, they have established a clear set of goals for the season.
“They are team-focused on one side of getting along and being a good group of young men together representing our school and our families and each other,” Lowney said.
With just a few weeks of working closely with the boys, Lowney looks forward to a great season. However, it will be a competitive one, with the boys sitting at the top of the league.
“We’re in a new league too in Division one, so it’s going to be a lot tougher, we’re going to play a lot more tougher teams, there’s a lot more competition,” team captain senior Brad Ohadi said. “I think if we work hard and keep going along like this, we should have a great year.”
The team’s bond shines through the chatter before their routine practice. Nine new players have joined the team this year, bringing talent and fresh twists to their plays. New member junior Peter Enescu is just as optimistic as Ohadi is.
“I’m really excited for this season actually because I think we have a lot of talent — more so than other years. I think we’re going to be able to play well together and I think that overall we’re just going to have an amazing season,” Enescu said.
As Lowney puts it, the boys soccer team hopes to do some damage this year. They’re aiming to win league and are ready to bridge the gap to CCS that was left open last year.
Their first home game will be against Lynbrook High School on Dec. 4 at 3:30 p.m.
