Students and staff discuss the sudden cancellation of school.
As Principal April Scott finished announcing that school was no longer in session “effective immediately,” literature teacher Mark Carpenter’s fifth period Honors American Literature class broke out in a roar. Some students even stood up, screaming “YES!” at being let out of school more than two hours early.
“It sounded like a football game for about 10 seconds,” said junior Leon Rovner, a student in Carpenter’s class. .
On March 25, after some damage to the water main was caused during construction students were asked to leave campus, possibly because of California State Senate Bill 1413, in which schools are required to provide “free, fresh drinking water” during all mealtimes.
