As the school year comes to an end, many seniors are wrapping up high school and preparing themselves for a new scene in college. Senior Rohan Prakash is no exception as he gets ready to leave Cupertino for Northwestern University in Illinois. Unlike most of his peers who are uncertain about their future, Prakash already knows that he will primarily focus his studies on education. Already dedicating two afternoons a week to tutoring seventh grade math students in a West San Jose middle school with the educational program Breakthrough, Prakash will also dedicate his future to education spending equal time in teaching and research. His time at Breakthrough has fueled his interest in education and he cites Breakthrough program director Jia Liu as an important mentor in his path to developing his tutoring skills. After graduation and before he leaves for college in the fall, Prakash will continue to tutor over summer and beginning in fall he’ll start his journey to fix the education system.
