Motivational speaker Scott Greenberg is scheduled to speak to students on Jan. 11 as part of the Student Life Commission’s annual post-winter break Back in Action week. He is to join a roster of speakers including youth motivational speaker Jeff Yalden and Sal Khan, founder of Khan Academy. According to Student Life Commissioner senior Sanjeev Ranga, the subject of the speech is yet to be confirmed.
Greenberg, whose diverse clientele includes corporations such as Nike, government agencies like the Federal Emergency Management Agency and schools across North America, caught the attention of the Leadership committee after he presented at a DECA leadership conference on Nov. 23, 2012.
“A lot of DECA students and myself were really impressed by the speech,” Ranga said, who is also DECA’s Director of Membership.
After listening to the speech, Ranga suggested to schedule him to speak at MVHS.
A UCLA alumnus, Greenberg now presents to over 60,000 people a year about “resilience, leadership and peak performance,” according to his official website. Originally aspiring to become a filmmaker, he studied at NYU‘s graduate film school, the Tisch School of the Arts, until he was diagnosed with cancer. He draws inspiration for his speeches from his experiences as a cancer survivor and as a grandson of a holocaust survivor.
