When El Estoque asked students who the governor of California was, we received a myriad of responses. Out of 100 responders, 31 knew that the current governor is Jerry Brown. Brown is currently serving his third term as governor; his first was between 1975-1983. Governors generally are only allowed to serve two terms in California, but Brown is able to serve up to two more terms because he first took office before 1990, when the legislation restricting number of terms to two was passed.
