On Oct. 28, all FUHSD schools were invited to Fremont High School for IDC Exchange.
“People got to witness FHS spirit battle between the juniors and seniors, as well as the choice to go a students class or help out with the rally,” IDC Representative junior Arnon Karnkaeng said.
Students that attended missed periods one through five and attended a debriefing meeting afterwards with the FHS IDC Representatives, Zhenzhen Wei and James Santos, where they discussed the likes and dislikes of the day and any ideas from the rally that they would want to incorporate into their own schools.
“When we went to the rally, it was a very different experience. They sit in the bleachers and each class has a sister class. Juniors [are] paired with the freshmen and senior [are] paired with the sophomores,” senior Steffanie Sum said. “So not only did we have to stand up and cheer for our class, we had to cheer for the sophomore class which was really cool.”
On Jan. 28 of last year, MVHS hosted an IDC Exchange where other students got the chance to experience the very first Blackout rally. MVHS student junior Sanjeev Dwarka had his friend from FHS junior Chris Watson, follow him around for the day. Dwarka participated in the FHS IDC Exchange and followed Watson.
“It was actually pretty fun. I met a lot of new people and I was in a totally new atmosphere,” Dwarka said. “The whole new experience of a different school was what made it really fun.”
