In an email sent out to the varsity and JV basketball teams on Aug. 31, head basketball coach Mani Messy announced that he would be leaving his position at MVHS.
At a meeting last friday in the field house, Messy mentioned that he had another job opportunity lined up that he would confirm later in an email, according to varsity player junior Cory Low.
“In the interest of what is best for my family I have decided to step down as head coach at MV effective immediately,” Messy wrote in the email sent out Wednesday afternoon.
Last year, Messy took on the role of head basketball coach when Matt Tait stepped down abruptly in Sept. 2011. Messy lead the varsity team to an overall record of 8-16.
“It’s definitely bittersweet, but we’re kind of frustrated that we have to work with another program again,” senior George Geha said. “It’s the fourth one for me.”
