To celebrate the Lunar Calendar New Year, all Chinese 4 classes made potstickers
On Feb. 3, billions of Asians worldwide celebrated the annual Lunar Calendar New Year holiday. To participate in the tradition, Chinese teacher I-Chu Chang’s Chinese 4 classes made fried dumplings, or “jiao zi,” in the cafeteria Feb. 8 and 9. Enlisting the help of parent volunteers, students proceeded to defrost, cut, and mix ingredients to make a meat filling flavored with soy sauce. After 10 minutes of frying the delicate dumplings, the familiar smell of a traditional Chinese dish greeted the noses of the young chefs. Afterwards, it was time to dip the sizzling wraps into sweet and sour dumpling sauce.
