Fundraising pays off for class of 2011
The class of 2011’s junior prom will be held on April 2 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Corinthian Event Center.
In part due to fundraising, the bids prices were kept relatively low, starting at $40 per person and $75 per couple. The class officers resolved to keep bid prices down to encourage attendance. As opposed to the class of 2010’s junior prom in 2009, which was sold for up to $130 per couple, the prices were capped at $100.
"The goal is to keep the prices low. Sometimes it doesn’t cover enough to break even, so that’s why we raise prices later on," class of 2011 vice president junior Elaine Tang said. "It’s also to encourage people to start asking early."
The event was promoted on Facebook, announcements, fliers and promotional videos in hopes of attracting more students. The class was encouraged to participate in the planning process through theme song voting as well as giving suggestions for the location of the event. According to the class officers, two-thirds of the class are expected to attend.
