Student Recognition holds voting for Winterball Court
It’s not very often that royalty is elected. During lunch on Jan. 13 and 14, the Student Recognition commission was in the Rally Court and Academic Court so that students can have the opportunity to vote for Winterball court. Seniors selected a king and queen, juniors selected a prince and princess, sophomores selected a duke and duchess and freshmen picked a count and countess.
Following the tradition of previous years, Homecoming Court were not able to participate in Winterball Court. According to Student Recognition commission lead senior Ruby Jang, the voting was be done on paper because online voting, which has been used in previous years, tends to procure a low voter turnout. Winterball 2008 attempted to use this method while Winter ball 2009 used paper ballots at the dance after forgetting to hold the balloting during school. With the paper ballots having worked decidedly better, Student Recognition now tried extending the voting opportunity to the rest of the school.
