Love was everywhere, or at least written on arms across campus.
Love was everywhere, or at least written on arms across campus.
On Nov. 13, MVHS Team Change brought a nationwide event and movement to the school — "To Write Love on Her Arms." A non-profit movement, "To Write Love on Her Arms" is dedicated to finding help and hope for people with struggling with life-threatening issues like depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. As its name suggests, the movement encourages people to write "love" on their arms to inform as well as inspire those in need to seek treatment.
Armed with love, Team Change set up tables at lunch with large posters filled with decorations and supportive messages. In addition, blank cards were passed out for students to write caring messages to their friends and loved ones. And of course, markers and pens were available for those who had not yet written "love" on their arms.
For those who did write "love" on their arms, MVHS Team Change handed out signs before school to wear the whole day and raise further awareness.
"MVHS Team Change hopes that ‘To Write Love on Her Arms’ is not the one day that we show compassion. We need to be there for our friends, offer hugs and support because we can make a difference," official sign posters said.
