Feeling blue? Go dance!

Feeling blue? Go dance!
Cupertino’s Teen Commission hosts their True Blue Dance on March 20.

On Friday March 20 from 8-10:30 p.m., the Cupertino Teen Commission will host the True Blue Dance, their second annual high school dance. The dance will be held at the Quinlan Community Center (10185 N. Stelling Rd.) All proceeds will be donated to the HydrAid Project, an organization that creates water filters to be installed in the Dominican Republic this summer. One filter costs $30 and lasts 10 years.

The Cupertino Teen Commission is hosting their annual high school dance on March 20 at the Quinlan Center.

Each year, the commission selects a charity they would like to contribute to and chooses a corresponding color theme for the dance. Last year’s funds were donated to an earth-preservation organization, hence the dance was named the Go Green Dance. As an added incentive, students who wear that color to the dance get a discount on admission. This year, any student who wears blue clothing (excluding just blue jeans), will only have to pay $1 for admission. Regular admission is $2, and students must have their student ID cards present to be admitted.

“Last year’s event was a really big success, and had the biggest turnout of any event planned by the commission,” junior Pooja Kundargi, who serves on the Cupertino Teen Commission, said.

Over 600 students attended last year’s dance, but this year there will be a cut-off at 450 students.
