Yo-yo gurus, juniors Omkar Kawade, Danish Shaik and Emilio Torres-Gonzales, demonstrate some of their favorite yo-yo tricks.
A yo-yo is essentially a string encased by two metal circles.
But to juniors Omkar Kawade, Danish Shaik and Emilio Torres-Gonzales it has come to mean so much more. Weeks, months and even years of commitment and practice have led all three boys to a remarkable level of expertise in the art.
“Every time you learn a new [yo-yo] trick, it’s just satisfying,” Shaik said. “The latest trick I learned took me two weeks to learn it. And after I could do it without messing up, it felt really good.”
