Freshman Shakthi Elangovan first heard of Celebration Week when freshman class officer Leslie Ligier promoted the event by placing a clothespin clip on Elangovan’s shirt with the words “Celebration Week” printed on it. This clothespin soon led Elangovan to ask his friend, junior Christine Chu, about the activities throughout the week, and on Monday, he found himself standing in front of the appreciation card booth.

“[My teacher] makes the class more fun. She doesn’t just pile on work,” Elangovan said. “She tries to make it more enjoyable.”
Leadership will personally deliver the cards to the specified teachers and seniors over the next two weeks during fifth period. Elangovan’s teacher and all other teachers who receive appreciation cards will also receive an apple — a symbol of academic appreciation.
“It’s cool because we get to show appreciation to our teachers, which is something most of us don’t do that much,” Elangovan said.
