Sagacity: words of wisdom students have picked up

Co-written by Mingjie Zhong.

Beginning in 2016, CollegeBoard will offer a new version of the SAT with a revamped vocab section aimed to dissuade students from using flashcards to “memorize obscure words.” Instead, the test will focus on common and useful words offered in a broad context. As we say goodbye to the copious agglomeration of enigmatical lexemes, we will choose one SAT vocabulary word each day and discover the word’s meaning to MVHS students.

SAGACITY

Of all the difficult vocabulary words that the SAT is notorious for, “sagacity” may not be the first word to come to mind. Many students first learn the word and its meaning before any form of SAT preparation classes, as the word dedicates itself to not only wisdom but the imparting of advice.

El Estoque interviewed three students for the best pieces of advice they have heard, whether in or out of school. Read their responses below.
