On Oct. 30, girls tennis played Los Alto High School in their final home game of the season. They won two out of four of their singles matches, and two out of their three doubles matches to win by the close margin of 4-3.

Freshman Rashmi Ghonasgi serves an ace to make the score of the second set 3-1. She won her match in straight sets 6-0, 6-3 against LAHS sophomore Tessa Hocquet. Ghonasgi used her strong serve and forehand to win key points and dominate throughout the match.

Doubles partners freshman Carol Lei and junior Uma Kirloskar win a point with a well placed volley to make it 2-1 in the first set. They started their match off strong and won the first set 6-1. But as the match went on, doubles partners seniors Whitney Mathews and Madi Bourquin from LAHS came back and won the next two sets 6-3, 10-4.

Senior Aishwarya Sankar uses a strong serve and forehand to make the score of the second set 2-0. Sankar lost the first set 3-6, and started the second one off well, but lost her 2-0 lead and went on to lose the set 3-6 as well.

Sophomore Laura Cao counters her opponent’s shot with a well placed forehand that is not returned, allowing her to gain the lead in the first set and make the score 6-5. Cao put up a good fight in the first set, but lost 6-7 and then went on to lose in straight sets, with the score of the second set 1-6.

Senior Nicole Stomakhin uses quick movement across the court in the last point of the first set to win 6-0. Stomakhin continued her strong performance in the second set as well and won both sets 6-0, 6-0.
