Odd sheep out

Odd sheep out

Milo may be different, but that’s what makes him who he is

There are some things that I don’t get about Milo. He likes reduced-fat dog food more than regular dog food and would rather bathe in the sun on a 100 degree day than sit in an air conditioned room. Not to mention, Milo prefers to sit and lay down on carpet over hardwood floors. I always thought he was weird because of his idiosyncrasies, but now, I realize just how unique he is.

Not only are his actions different, but his physical appearance is too. He has huge non-floppy ears everyone notices instantly, the long body of a hot dog and a somewhat pointed snout. From far away, when he’s hopping in the grass, people think he’s a big brown rabbit. But the ultimate reason that makes him truly special is his ethnicity: half German, half Mexican, but raised as a Chinese American.

Strange qualities are what make Milo my dog. Because he finds something scrumptious in reduced-fat dog food, it makes him my dog with another loveable quirky story about him to tell my friends and family. He’s earning “oohs” and “ahhs”, as well as a pet on the head, just for being himself.

Most dogs like to roll in mud, Milo loves to roll in Febreze scented carpets. Other dogs jump in the water and chase after cats Milo hates the sight of water and chases after a laser light. I don’t mean to say that he doesn’t enjoy doing things other dogs love, but he just prefers to stray away from things that typical dogs love to do.

He’s not afraid to be a little outside the social norm. He knows that my family and I will love him anyway.
