On March 21, an E-Waste Drive will be held in the MVHS bus circle to prevent improper recycling.come together to host the E-Waste Drive.The MV Robotics Team and Environmental Commission will host an E-Waste drive from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the bus circle on Saturday, March 21 .The E-waste drive will collect mostly electronic products as well as scrap metal and plastic products. Green Mouse Recycling will pick up the recyclables and send a portion of their profit to MVHS. Proceeds will be donated to the Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley Program, which repairs homes for the disabled or those with low-income, as well as the Costa Verde International School.
“We’re not sure of the amount in pounds, but we hope to get 100 cars [of people to donate their recyclables],” Environmental Commissioner junior Shilpa Sure said. Environmental Commission had originally planned to do the project last year, but did not have the time to do so. When they planned their projects in the beginning of the school year, Robotics Club became interested and decided to collaborate on the E-waste drive project. The drive is meant to prevent the improper recycling of electronic waste “A lot of the e-waste goes to landfills and it leaks chemicals which can get into our drinking water,” Sure said. “We want to prevent that.
