Now that basketball season is over, take a look back at two games that shaped played a key part in the Matadors season.

On Feb. 3, the Matadors entered the Mountain View HS Spartan’s territory with a 4-2 league record as they hoped to continue their league championship quest. Throughout the game was tight and with just seconds left on the clock, the Spartan’s junior guard Tommy Resnick failed to convert either free throw at the line. The Matadors called timeout and drew up a play. Out of the time out, they got the ball to senior Ashween Manimaran who went the length of the court and finished at the rack as time expired to even up the game and force overtime.

However, the Matador’s could not capitalize on this chance and they ended up losing 66-61.

A week later, the Matadors came in as losers of four of their last five games and had to find a way to rebound in order to keep their league championship hopes alive. But facing a team that had defeated them by 23 points just a few weeks prior, MVHS knew that they had to play to their full potential in order to get the win. And that is exactly what they did, as they defeated the Santa Clara Bruins on Feb. 14 by a score of 43-34.
